Here’s Why Improving Your Home Network Should Be Your Next Upgrade

Faster Speeds and Stronger Connections

What’s not to love about smart technology? It allows us to see more on our TV, stay safer with surveillance and security, and enhances our comfort with the touch of a button.

It’s like there are no drawbacks – except the strain it can put on your home network.

When too many devices connect to the same network, it can cause slow responses and total blackouts. That means you can’t enjoy your connected devices!

In this blog, we’ll illustrate the importance of your home network, and show you why you should improve yours soon. Just keep reading for more.

Issue: I’m not seeing 4K!

By now there’s a good chance you’ve upgraded your 1080p flat-panel to a 4K HDR model. Sharper picture, higher resolution, and more vibrant colors make for a more realistic, eye-popping viewing experience.

But you may have noticed something; you’re not seeing true 4K. In fact, the picture doesn’t look much better than an upscaled 1080p.

The reason may be a lack of network bandwidth. If your network is like a highway, bandwidth is the number of lanes available. While 1080p HD may only take up one or two lanes – allowing plenty of room for audio and other smart connections, 4K takes up a lot more.

In other words, if you want to stream full 4k, you’ll have to give your network more room.

Solution:

Upgrading to HDMI 2.0 cables for local connections and fiber-optic cables for long-distance connections will offer a higher bandwidth and faster connection speeds for every room of your home.

Issue: I Can’t Connect My Smartphone!

Dead spots are some of the most aggravating problems you can face when trying to connect to a wireless network. That’s when you’re in an area of your property where you simply can’t connect to the Wi-Fi via your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

Dead spots can be caused by many factors, but they always mean the same thing: your Wi-Fi router doesn’t reach the area. Whether it’s because of a lack of coverage or that your router simply can’t penetrate concrete walls with the signal, it causes plenty of frustration for users.

Solution:

Invest in a mesh network setup. A mesh network is similar to Wi-Fi in that it provides high speed wireless connections for your devices, but it does it a little differently.

Instead of a single router and some boosters installed around your property, a mesh network consists of nodes that carry the signal between each other. Because the wireless signal is decentralized, coverage becomes stronger and broader with the more nodes you add.
